Microposts

Spent the last couple of hours beginning a new Obsidian vault to start fresh and reorganise my notes into something more manageable and future proof. This could take some time (and does it even matter).

🎡Now Playing: Bob Dylan - Blood on the Tracks (1975)

Haven’t seen A Complete Unknown yet. But today felt like a Bob day, and this is currently my favourite album of his. He’s a genius.

Favourite tracks:

Decided I will be ignoring and refusing to get involved with/read/comment on anything to do with trumps inauguration except to say this: a collection of the most uncool, corrupt, unintelligent, unloved fucking losers will all be in a room together and I’d love that room to fall into hell itself.

Amad’s hat-trick last night. 00’s Forever all day on 6music today. Wedding tomorrow. Happy days.

🎡Now Playing: Aldous Harding - Warm Chris (2022)

Huge fan of Aldous Harding and I realised I hadn’t given this album much of a listen when it was released. Not quite as much oddness to the folk as in previous albums (or maybe I’m used to it), but enough to keep it interesting. Lovely stuff.

Favourite Tracks:

News: I became an Uncle today.

Delighted to hear Lauren Laverne is well and coming back to 6music. Moving to the 10.30am-1pm time-slot is great. I chose the right time to start listening again.

I realise I haven’t shared any cat (πŸˆβ€β¬›) content here, so here is Domino - the world’s laziest colleague.

I’ve got back into listening to BBC 6Music while I work. It’s the perfect station really, isn’t it?

🎡Now playing: The National - Boxer (2007)

It’s started snowing outside again. This album (and this band) always makes me feel like I’m sat in front of an open flame. Hunker down.

Favourite tracks:

🎡Now playing: The Beatles - Revolver (1966)

Back at work today, so thought I’d throw on an album I’ve ordered on vinyl with some Christmas money. It’s hard to pick a favourite Beatles album (The Best of the Beatles?) but this is my favourite Beatles album.

Favourite Tracks:

Out of office is on, and I’ve already started to overeat. Merry Christmas all.

My website now fits the season with falling snow. Check it out on danielsavage.uk ❄️ (thanks to @manton.org)

🎡Now Playing: This Is Lorelei - Box for Buddy, Box for Star (2024)

This was The Lovely Robin’sℒ️ best album of the year, and it had completely passed me by so I thought I’d throw it on today. A lovely piece of work.

Best Tracks:

🎡Now Playing: Biffy Clyro - Infinity Land (2004)

Not gone through the back catalogue of Biffy for a while. Blackened Sky is still my favourite album but this occasionally bangs.

Best Tracks:

It’s #SPOTY therefore I get my years fill of sporting montages. Luke Littler the favourite to win but Keeley Hodgkinson’s gold was special. I LOVE SPORT.

🎡Now Playing: TV on the Radio - Dear Science (2008)

I only remembered I love this band over the weekend so had to play this album today. Great way to start the week.

Best Tracks:

Altrincham 1 - 0 Sutton United ⚽️

Very cold. Very cold. Happy to be on the tram heading home to warmth and my cat.

Hosted a work’s Christmas quiz over Teams tonight (we all work remotely) and I got a sudden flashback of Covid.

🎡Now Playing: Laura Marling - Patterns (2024)

Laura Marling is a perfect artist. She’s already one of my favourite gigs of all time, and this album is a stripped back, beautiful, tender, moving piece of work. Sublime.

Best Tracks:

🎡Now Playing: Joshua Idehen - Mum Does The Washing EP (2024)

My Spotify algorithm came good suggesting this to me. Absolutely loved it. Sharp, clever, heartfelt lyrics with great production. I see he’s playing Manchester in April, might have to grab a ticket.

Best Tracks:

Manchester United 4 - 0 Everton.

What a great day to have a ticket. We definitely need a new stadium but there’s still something special about Old Trafford in the sun. Diallo was superb.

🎡Now Playing: Yannis & The Yaw - Lagos Paris London EP (2024)

A dream collaboration between The Foals singer and the legendary drummer Tony Allen. Result is a Foals-y sound with the groove turned up to 11.

Best tracks:

Ok, it’s time to admit it. I’m a Manchester United fan. Good win tonight.

🎡Now Playing: Chemical Brothers - Planet Dust (1995)

They didn’t make this album for listening to at work, they made it for dancing.

Best tracks:

🎡Now Playing: Kendrick Lamar - GNX (2024)

Had to give this a chance after all the hype. Not my fave of his back catalog, but it could be a grower.

Best tracks:

Every border implies the violence of its maintenance.

I’ve been thinking about giving up the booze for a while. Wasting days hungover just isn’t the one anymore.

I thought January 1st would be a good marker but that’s just an excuse to push it down the road, rather than to make the improvement immediately. Especially with Dec being a month of excess.
