Alright mate? This is the digital home of Daniel Savage, a small man who is trying very hard to exist.

Spent the last couple of hours beginning a new Obsidian vault to start fresh and reorganise my notes into something more manageable and future proof. This could take some time (and does it even matter).

Here are the best things I found on the internet last week. Distract yourself, of course! You need to. But then disconnect, and reconnect with other humans! Touch skin, touch grass, touch the off button.

🎵Now Playing: Bob Dylan - Blood on the Tracks (1975)

Haven’t seen A Complete Unknown yet. But today felt like a Bob day, and this is currently my favourite album of his. He’s a genius.

Favourite tracks:

  • Tangled Up In Blue
  • Simple Twist of Fate
  • Idiot Wind
  • If You See Her, Say Hello
  • Shelter from the Storm
  • Buckets of Rain

Decided I will be ignoring and refusing to get involved with/read/comment on anything to do with trumps inauguration except to say this: a collection of the most uncool, corrupt, unintelligent, unloved fucking losers will all be in a room together and I’d love that room to fall into hell itself.

🎵Now Playing: Aldous Harding - Warm Chris (2022)

Huge fan of Aldous Harding and I realised I hadn’t given this album much of a listen when it was released. Not quite as much oddness to the folk as in previous albums (or maybe I’m used to it), but enough to keep it interesting. Lovely stuff.

Favourite Tracks:

  • Tick Tock
  • Fever
  • Lawn
  • Passion Babe
  • Leathery Whip

Here are the best things I found on the internet last week. A stunning musical performance, great art, why Bitcoin is the worst, how AI could lead to creative/local software, and something to waste some time with on the toilet. The full set.

Delighted to hear Lauren Laverne is well and coming back to 6music. Moving to the 10.30am-1pm time-slot is great. I chose the right time to start listening again.

Here are the best things I found on the internet last week. It’s a new year, but I continue to scour the internet to find gems in the ever increasing slop of shite.

🎵Now playing: The National - Boxer (2007)

It’s started snowing outside again. This album (and this band) always makes me feel like I’m sat in front of an open flame. Hunker down.

Favourite tracks:

  • Fake Empire
  • Mistaken for Strangers
  • Squalor Victoria
  • Apartment Story
  • Ada

🎵Now playing: The Beatles - Revolver (1966)

Back at work today, so thought I’d throw on an album I’ve ordered on vinyl with some Christmas money. It’s hard to pick a favourite Beatles album (The Best of the Beatles?) but this is my favourite Beatles album.

Favourite Tracks:

  • Eleanor Rigby
  • I’m Only Sleeping
  • Here, There and Everywhere
  • She Said She Said
  • Good Day Sunshine
  • And Your Bird Can Sing
  • For No One
  • Got To Get You Into My Life
  • Tomorrow Never Knows

A Sober 2025

I’ve decided to go through 2025 with a theme in mind. In 2024 I focused on doing well at work, keeping the job I recently got, learning quickly, and becoming a valued member of the team. I think I achieved that pretty well. My finances that were lacking in 2023, have improved and given me a bit of breathing room. I have the opportunity to build on this in 2025. But work isn’t my priority this year.

Cultural Diet - December 2024

A run down of everything I’ve consumed this month. After November’s hectic gig schedule, this month was rather quieter with the festive holidays in mind. As we got closer to the winter solstice and it got dark and cold from 2pm, staying in and watching TV or a film became my preferred choice.

I hope you had a wonderful and peaceful Christmas break and you’re looking forward with hope into 2025.
